The project that we initiate this term is aimed to capture the architectural potential of the technological and economical paradigm that has opened with the development of communication technologies, and it is part of a collective effort by several architectural schools in the US to address the question of contemporary culture in the built environment.

Since its founding in 2004, Vimeo has become the largest online venue for exclusively user-generated video content. What sets it apart from other video-sharing services is its strict adherence to original work, a principal that has helped foster a community of creative individuals that foregrounds individual expression and productive discourse. Recent offline events suggest that the company sees a place for its content in the public realm, where viewers can share in a collective experience. At the same time, to build a permanent venue for content as diverse as Vimeo's would call for a radically different model than the box office cinema, a model that forgoes feature-length productions in favor of a more plastic and interactive, live-browsing experience. Herein lies the investigation.
